In Aotearoa New Zealand, you have strong rights when it comes to your healthcare, protected under the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights. You have the right to be treated with respect, to be given clear and honest information, to make decisions about your own care, and to have your privacy protected. You are entitled to receive high-quality services and to have your needs and culture valued throughout your care journey.
informed consent
Informed consent is a fundamental part of midwifery care. This means that before any tests, procedures, or treatments are offered, I will always explain the benefits, risks, and alternatives clearly, and give you the opportunity to ask questions. You have the right to take the time you need to make decisions, to decline any care you do not wish to receive, and to change your mind at any time. Your choices will always be respected without pressure or judgment.
feedback about your care
If you would like to share feedback about your care — whether it’s positive, a concern, or a suggestion — you are very encouraged to talk to me directly. I am always open to hearing how your experience has been and to making sure your voice is heard. If you have good feedback for me, I encourage you to fill out the feedback form below. This form will be used for my ongoing professional development, and will contribute to the process I undergo in re-certifying my midwifery credential.
